Monitor balance for a better live sound experience

A precise monitor mix is especially important when the band has not practiced the material much yet. That could be the key to a better performance.

In practice:

• Make sure the instruments that are most critical for your timing and musical confidence are loud enough in your monitor.
• If one chord player is not fully secure yet, more of the other critical harmonic player in the monitor might improve performance.
• If timing needs improvement, more hi-hat or another rhythmically precise instrument in the monitor can make a real difference.
• Give a good thought to what’s important to have on the monitors and what is just excessive stage noise.
