Reduce microphone feedback
for a better live sound experience
With the right preparation, you can often avoid feedback before the gig even starts. Microphone technique, stage positioning, and the right setup can help with this.
In practice:
• Use a high-pass filter around 100–125 Hz on your vocal mic to reduce low-end feedback.
• Ask the engineer for a small level increase to test stability, while backing off slightly from the monitor.
• Sing with enough strength for a live setting. Practice this in advance.
• You can raise the monitor on a small crate to bring it closer to your ears.
Recommended items from the catalog:
• Behringer XR18 or X32- A precise feedback control
• Audix OM2 and OM3 hypercardiod microphones- A fantastic feedback rejection
• Shure SM58- The best compromise between end result, versatility, and feedback rejection.
